ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS are quite serious about seeing change in the Engineering sector (particularly in the area of education) so that more ethical and planet-friendly practices become the norm as we move towards the SDG 2030 deadline.
TURNAROUND is a day centre in Bristol that provides food, counselling, showers, laundry, as well as recreational and spiritual spaces for the homeless. I went behind the scenes to show volunteers the variety of ways they could get involved at this well-equipped facility.
B.O.S.H. is the Bristol Outreach Services for the Homeless, primarily an advocacy service that assists rough sleepers and the vulnerably housed. Understandably, many service users were reluctant to be on camera, so filming required a great deal of sensitivity and respect. It was important to create a trusting environment where participants felt safe so that we could convey their experiences without compromising their dignity.
The WILD GOOSE DAY CENTRE offers vital support to individuals in crisis, including those facing hunger and homelessness. Manager Mick Connolly had this to say about the experience: “Thank you for coming in and filming, meeting the guys, but also how at ease you made them feel by kindly asking if they minded being filmed”.
